Sponsors Are What Makes the Mason-Dixon Meltdown Happen

Special Thanks To All Involved for This Weekend’s Event
Competitors and fans alike are beginning to make their way to South Boston Speedway in Virginia for the inaugural Mason-Dixon Meltdown this Friday and Saturday.  Some of the best short track racers from the PASS South Super Late Models, the Tour-Type Modifieds, the Pro Challenge Series and Legends Cars will hit the South Boston 4/10-mile oval for a two-day event unmatched by any in the country.

While drivers and fans from all corners of the country will be providing the action on the racetrack this Thanksgiving weekend, the inaugural Mason-Dixon Meltdown would not be possible without the generosity and support of the South Boston community and numerous sponsors who have allowed to make this one-of-a-kind event possible.

George K Walker Florist of Winston-Salem, NC has come on board with the Mason-Dixon Meltdown as the provider of the event’s traditional winners’ wreaths to be presented to the champion of each feature event.  The beautiful and unique arrangements serve as a traditional prize for winning at the Meltdown.  While these wreaths are hard to come by for drivers on the track, fans are able to see what other kind of unique floral arrangements George K. Walker Florist can create and also have them shipped to anyone in the world by visiting www.sendroses.com.

Mason-Dixon Meltdown promoters would also like to extend thanks to Junior Johnson Country Ham, who will be offering several giveaways of gift boxes and a case of Junior Johnson Pork Skins.  Junior Johnson Brands, owned by Motorsports legend Junior Johnson, has also graciously sponsored several laps in the feature events.

The Tour-Type Modified driver that sets fast time in qualifying on Friday November 24th at South Boston will be handed the Pole Award presented by Winston-Salem, NC’s DMC Auto Exchange.  DMC is a longtime supporter of Southern Modified racing and drivers Burt and Jason Myers.

Tom Johnson Camping Center in Concord and Marion, North Carolina has donated a Motorcoach for officials’ use for the Meltdown weekend.  Fans are encouraged to check out the motorcoach at the track and contact Tom Johnson Camping Center for more information on how to get one for themselves.

The community surrounding South Boston Speedway has shown a tremendous amount of support for the inaugural Mason-Dixon Meltdown, as well.  Local sponsors have come on board for the event including Speedzone Convenience Store.  Located on Highway 58 in Danville, VA, Speedzone is a ‘racers’ convenience store with clean facilities and some great food and drink.  Family members of South Boston’s Speedway’s own Peyton Sellers, the 2005 NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Champion, family run Speedzone and look forward to catering to fans and teams alike throughout Meltdown weekend.

Special thanks to other local sponsors, McDonalds of South Boston and Centerville and Gene’s Orange Market also located on Highway 58, for their involvement in the Meltdown weekend and be on the lookout for special give-a-ways and prizes from all of these companies.

The Tour-Type Modified portion of the “Mason-Dixon Meltdown” features a 250-lap main event on Sunday, November 25th.  The PASS South Super Late Models also have a 250-lap event that day and both premier divisions will be racing for a $12,500 paycheck for the winner, plus lap money and other to bonuses to be announced soon.  Also competing during the “Mason-Dixon Meltdown” weekend are the Legends Cars and the Pro Challenge Series.
